ENVIRONMENTAL FUND FOR MICHIGAN

Position Description and Job Announcement

The Environmental Fund for Michigan (EFM) is an umbrella fundraising organization of twenty-four conservation, environmental and recreation organizations working together to create a healthy and safe environment. EFM's members include: Citizens for Alternatives to Chemical Contamination, Clean Water Fund (Michigan Chapter), Clinton River Watershed Council, Detroit Audubon Society, East Michigan Environmental Action Council, Ecology Center, Friends of the Rouge, Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy, Huron River Watershed Council, Inland Seas Education Association, Little Traverse Conservancy, Michigan Audubon Society, Michigan Council of Trout Unlimited, Michigan Environmental Council, Michigan United Conservation Clubs, Michigan Wildlife Habitat Foundation, Rails-to-Trails Conservancy (Michigan Chapter), Sierra Club Foundation (Michigan Chapter), The Nature Conservancy (Michigan Chapter), Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council, Upper Peninsula Environmental Coalition, Urban Options, Washtenaw-Potawatomi Land Trust, and West Michigan Environmental Action Council.

JOB TITLE: Executive Director

SUMMARIES OF DUTIES: The Executive Director is responsible for administering activities to establish and operate all programs consistent with the mission, strategic and operational plans, budget and resource allocations, and established policies of EFM, including overseeing office administration; meeting legal and financial reporting requirements; supervising staff when appropriate; working with the Board to design, develop and carry out campaign access strategies; ensuring that campaigns and other projects are run effectively and increasing revenue for EFM member groups; and serving as a public liaison for the organization. The Executive Director is responsible to the Board of Directors, and works with the Board, appropriate Board committees, volunteers and community and business leaders to implement these activities.

SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
* Gaining access to corporate and public sector employers
* Developing and implementing effective workplace giving campaigns
* Board development
* Fundraising and development
* Marketing and public relations
* Administration and personnel

REQUIREMENTS
* Three or more years involvement with non-profit organizations including demonstrated understanding of the needs of non-profit environmental organizations, and an ability to work effectively with their leaders
* Successful fundraising experience
* Ability to work with private and public employers
* Excellent written and oral skills
* Moderate travel throughout Michigan required
