SG-W:/ Northeast Area Transportation Plan coming down the road

This Wednesday we have an opportunity to influence Ann Arbor's
environmental future. The City of Ann Arbor has begun a process called
the Northeast Area Transportation Plan in order to create a plan for the
future transportation network and open space in this part of town.

The first of five public meetings to gather citizens' input will be held
on Wednesday, September 5, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. in the Huron High School
cafeteria (corner of Fuller and Huron Parkway). The meeting is open to
the general public, no matter where you live.

At stake is the preservation of the remaining open space in Northeast Ann
Arbor and important aspects of the quality of life in the greater Ann
Arbor area. The voices of those who value open space and mass-transit
options are critical. Otherwise, the plan may well lead to more
traffic-clogged roads and less undeveloped nature.
