Ecology Center Meeting Features International Clean Production Expert Kenneth Geiser

Kenneth Geiser, an internationally renowned expert on environmental law and policy, clean production and sustainable development, will keynote the annual membership meeting of the Ecology Center on Sunday, February 2, 2003, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., at the Matthaei Botanical Gardens, 1800 N. Dixboro Rd., in Ann Arbor. Dr. Geiser will be speaking on "Blueprint for a Green Future:  Why GM, Dow, and Corporate America Should Embrace Clean Production."

Dr. Kenneth Geiser is the Director of the Massachusetts Toxics Use Reduction Institute (TURI) based at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell.  TURI conducts research, education and training programs about toxics use reduction, helping businesses, institutions, communities, and government agencies to incorporate it into their day-to-day operations.  Dr. Geiser's most recent book, "Materials Matter," looks at the history of America's industrial materials and the environmental aftermath.  Geiser, a professor of work environment, serves on several federal environmental panels, as well as the advisory group for the UN Environmental Program's Cleaner Production Programme.

The Ecology Center annual meeting also includes program reports, annual environmental awards, and election of the Center's Board of Directors.  The meeting is open to the general public, and admission is free.  For more information, please call (734) 761-3186 ext. 104.
