SUMMER CONSERVATION WORKER

Conservation Workers needed for employment with the City of Ann
Arbor, Michigan,
Department of Parks and Recreation, Division of Natural Area Preservation

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Manually remove invasive plant species from natural areas

   Monitor progress of restoration and ecological stewardship activities

   Maintain and construct foot trails

   Keep detailed, accurate records of all work performed

   Assist with volunteer workdays and other activities

QUALIFICATIONS:

   Completion of some college work in natural resources or environmental
studies

   Ability to perform strenuous manual labor outdoors in all weather
conditions

   Ability to work with chain saws, brush blades, and other power tools

   Ability to learn to distinguish between native and non-native flora

   Ability to work with minimal direct field supervision

   Willingness to work flexible hours including some weekend work

   Friendly personality suitable for working with volunteers and public
at
large

   Valid Michigan driver's license


SALARY:  $9.50/hour.  Position does not include benefits.

Work Schedule: Typically, five days per week, eight hours per day
(Monday-Friday).  Some  weekend and evening hours may be required for
leading volunteer workdays.  No more than 40 hours/week

DATES OF EMPLOYMENT: Position is for a 60-90 day term starting July 1st.
