New Great Lakes Seaway Trail exhibit

On May 6th, the Great Lakes Seaway Trail Discovery Center in Sackets Harbor, NY, opens for the season with a special exhibit of New York’s Historic Military Maps from 1750 to 1820. Maps show New York, Canada, Pennsylvania, and the waterways people traveled to establish settlements in such places as Oswego and Youngstown.

Chicago-area waterways safety zone

In today's federal register, the U.S. Coast Guard published a proposed "permanent safety zone" on 77 miles of Chicago-area navigable waterways. The safety zone is related to invasive species (such as Asian carp) countermeasure activities.
