International Space Station crew shoots spectacular photo of the Great Lakes (2/8) The crew of the International Space Station wasn't able to watch the Super Bowl, but they were able to snap an amazing photo of Indianapolis and the Great Lakes region. Check out the photo, which was taken at night during the big game. Also, a video captured days earlier shows a panorama of the region's night lights.
Sturgeon “thunder” has roots in biological process as the fish emit sounds (2/7) Wisconsin’s 2012 lake sturgeon-spearing season begins on Saturday. Research into the mysterious sounds that lake sturgeon produce resumes in April, or whenever the water warms to a temperature conducive for fish spawning, which is the best time to experience sturgeon “thunder.”
Great Lakes: Where's the ice? (2/6) It's been a very mild winter for the most part across the Great Lakes Region. Temperatures are up, snowfall is down. The Weather Channel analyzed ice levels on the Great Lakes, with a particular focus on Lake Erie.

GLIN February Site of the Month (2/1) GLIN's February Site of the Month is the Lake Erie Birding Trail. Ohio Sea Grant partnered with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife to produce this new site, offering comprehensive information for birding at 84 locations along Lake Erie. The Lake Erie Birding Trail covers the entire 312 miles of Ohio shoreline.
