Dear colleagues,

I am writing to tell you about an upcoming conference in Lisbon, Portugal,
from 11-14 April 2010 organized by IWA, ISME, FEMS and the journal Water
Research. Two special issues are planned for Water Research. We have pulled
together a fine selection of invited speakers covering the following major
topics:

● Shifting paradigms in the assessment of recreational water quality

● Microbial ecology of drinking water and waste water treatment processes

The first topic will be of particular interest to you but there are many
cross-links with microbial ecology too. The international response rate has
been excellent internationally with about 300 abstracts received to date,
but there have been relatively few submissions from North America . I would
like to specifically solicit submissions from our very active research
community served by Beachnet. If you have travel funds in your budget please
consider attending this important conference. You will meet many
international experts in the field. The deadline for abstract submissions
for the track Shifting paradigms in the assessment of recreational water
quality has been extended to

December 15, 2009. Please note that this is not indicated on the web page
http://www.waterresearchconference.com/ where you have to submit your
300-word abstract. Feel free to contact me with any questions!

Alexandria Boehm, Stanford University, USA
