Niagara tunnel will increase Canada's power generation capacity

The tunnel is the culmination of Canada's long-term goal to increase its 
water draw from the the Niagara River by 14 percent to the maximum allowed 
by treaty. Water from the new tunnel should generate 1.6 terawatt hours of

Ohio bill seeks to double lake water drawdown

The bill and a similar Senate companion would allow a permit holder to 
withdraw up to 5 million gallons of water a day directly from Lake Erie

Fednav adding three ships to Great Lakes fleet

Montreal's Fednav Ltd., Canada's largest ocean-going dry-bulk ship-owning 
and chartering firm, is investing about $100 million in three new vessels 
designed to trade on the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Seaway system.

In the past, Michigan's congressional delegation has been united in
