N.Y. risks loss of funding from EPA

New York State would lose all of its federal environmental funding for 
fiscal 2012 -- a figure that would likely surpass three-quarters of a 
billion dollars -- under a spending bill heading toward passage in the House

Water levels focus of talk

Labor unions voice support of Lake Michigan plan

The City of Waukesha's request to buy Lake Michigan water in the future - 
and build one pipeline to carry the water west to Waukesha and a second

Bay City officials say 'musty' water taste is from high algae levels

A sip of water in Bay County recently may taste a little bit different and 
not very pleasant. The musty or dirty taste coming from tap water at local 
homes or a restaurants is thanks to a larger than normal bloom of blue-green 
algae in the Saginaw Bay - the source for most of the county's drinking

Preliminary bill to homeowner for heating oil spill that closed two beaches: 
$38,000

Winnetka is seeking at least $38,000 from a resident whose contractor 
ruptured an underground heating oil tank, sending the contaminant into Lake 
Michigan through the village's storm sewer and causing two beaches to close.

Continuing engine problems have caused the Lake Express 
Muskegon-to-Milwaukee ferry to cancel service for 10 days - during the heart 
of the summer tourist season - while the ship undergoes an engine
