Waterway operators meet with new commander, Biggert on Asian carp

NYPA directs boaters with questions about low St. Lawrence Seaway water levels to IJC

Coal shipments down

I smell sex and death: Manipulating invasive sea lampreys with odor

Sea lampreys, it seems, are repelled by the smell of other decaying sea lampreys. Lacing the water with whiffs of deceased sea lampreys could therefore allow scientists to divert still-living lampreys away from areas of high conservation concern, or even steer them into traps. In 1985, White Lake was designated one of 43 Great Lakes Areas of Concern, due to problems, termed "Beneficial Use Impairments," identified in and around the lake.
