Top court rejects states' appeal on Great Lakes carp

an order requiring that a range of steps be taken to keep the invading Asian 
carp out of the Great Lakes where they are considered a threat to fisheries.

EDITORIAL: Forget the "strategy," close the canal

The Obama administration said it will spend about $50 million this year to 
shield the Great Lakes from Asian carp. But there's a simpler way: Block the 
waterways that the carp are using to get to the lakes. And that means 
closing the Chicago canal system and restoring the natural basins of the
