Lake Calumet area to benefit from federal, state conservation support

conservation projects to bolster environmental and recreation benefits to

EPA announces $50 Million for Sheboygan River dredging

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Sheboygan area officials joined 
forces today to kick off the final dredging work and habitat restoration 
projects needed to remove the Sheboygan River "Area of Concern" from a list 
of toxic hot spots identified in the 1987 Great Lakes Water Quality

Grants offered for lakes cleanup

Funding for grassroots projects to help clean up the Great Lakes basin was 
outlined by Ontario's Environment Ministry in Windsor on Wednesday. The fund

Great Lakes apple harvest off to early start

Apple-picking is off to an early start in the Northeast and Upper Midwest as 
growers deal with aftershocks from wacky spring weather that hammered fruit 
crops. Across the Great Lakes region, which includes four of the nation's 
top 10 apple-growing states - New York, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Ohio -

Bulk carrier Fednav adds six new vessels to its fleet for Great Lakes 
shipping

Maritime bulk carrier Fednav Ltd. will add six new energy-efficient vessels 
to its fleet that will be built in Japan for carrying such cargo as grain,

Chippewa tribes oppose state wolf hunt

Chippewa tribes in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan have asked the state 
Department of Natural Resources to prohibit the killing of wolves in the 
ceded territory of northern Wisconsin during a planned wolf hunt this fall.

Historic Oswego Lighthouse to be restored

The Oswego Lighthouse is getting a much needed makeover. City Council took 
the first step in a full-scale restoration Monday night. The restoration 
project is expected to transform the historic landmark into a tourist
