Repairs needed at Great Lakes harbors & piers

Many harbor users on the south shore of Lake Ontario are complaining that 
harbors are not being properly maintained. Perhaps some of the the worst 
conditions can be found at recreational piers like Olcott Harbor on Lake

Second ship runs aground on St. Lawrence River

Another ship has run aground on the St. Lawrence River, this time, near 
Alexandria Bay, N.Y.  The ship was able to move enough to get back to open

Video campaign aims to reduce lake algae

A new video is encouraging Windsor, Ont., residents to do their part to 
reduce blue-green algae in our lakes by maintaining septic systems, avoiding 
lawn fertilizer, using phosphate free detergents, and more. Source: The

Herbicide spraying closes much of Presque Isle State Park

Officials from Presque Isle State Park in Erie County, Penn., said a 
helicopter planned to spend about three hours spraying herbicide on invasive 
plants in the park, specifically narrow-leaf cattail and phragmite plants.
