EM:/ Summer School, Power Shift Michigan Style!

Please pass along to students and young people.  All ages are invited, but
of course this is a Michigan Student Sustainability Coalition event, so
often we seem to just attract students.

Join youth from across the Midwest for a training program that will prepare
us to lead an awesome and effective campaign for clean energy, energy
efficiency, and green jobs this fall. Our mission is to build an unstoppable
ground force to strengthen the American Clean Energy and Security Act,
represent our interests at the Copenhagen climate negotiations, and build a
better future for the Midwest.

Training workshops will include topics such as energy policy, sustainable
agriculture, green building, campaign and event planning, and community and
online organizing skills. We will also have hands-on training in straw bail
construction, permaculture, grassroots outreach and action, lobbying,
touring, and planning for a Midwest Power Shift!

Trainers will include:

*May Boeve* - 350.org: Global Partnerships, Policy, Operations, and
US/Canada outreach

*Brandon Knight* - Co-Founder of the Michigan Student Sustainability
Coalition

*Danny Marx* - Energy Action Coalition

*Kevin Kamps* - Beyond Nuclear

*Also - Trainers from: National Wildlife Federation, Will Steger Foundation,
Michigan Land Use Institute, Global Exchange & Local Green Businesses

The training will be held at Northwest Michigan College in Traverse City.
The conference fee will be $50 (requested donation), which includes
training, entertainment, breakfast and lunch each day, as well as optional
