Duluth, Minn., U.S.A.-Bill Kron was re-elected to a ninth term as Duluth
Seaway Port Authority president at the board's annual meeting held March
19. Originally appointed to the board of commissioners in 1992 by the
St. Louis County board, Kron remains the longest serving president in
the history of the Port Authority. 

 Steve Raukar, Hibbing, a St. Louis County commissioner since 1989, was
reelected to his seventh term as Port Authority vice president. He was
originally appointed to the board in January 1998 by the County board. 

Other Port Authority officers include:  Ray Klosowski, Duluth,
secretary; Thomas Clure, Duluth, treasurer; and Cal Larson, Fergus
Falls, assistant treasurer. Other board members are Lowell Hellervik,
St. Paul, and Norm Voorhees, Duluth.

The Port Authority's board is made up of seven members - two appointed
by the governor, two by the St. Louis County Board and three by the
Duluth City Council. Each appointment is for six years. The Duluth
Seaway Port Authority is an independent, public agency created by the
Minnesota State Legislature to foster domestic and international
maritime commerce, promote trade development, facilitate industrial
development and advance port interests here and around the world. In
addition to its maritime responsibilities, the Port Authority owns and
manages Clure Public Marine Terminal and Duluth Airpark.
