The final speaker for the Univ. of Michigan's Environmental Law and Policy Program's 2008-09 lecture series will be Jerome Ringo, who currently serves as president of the Apollo Alliance and is the immediate past chair of the board of the National Wildlife Federation. The topic of his lecture will be "The Color of Green: The Next Inconvenient Truth." Since 2006, Ringo has led the Apollo Alliance, which is a coalition of labor, environmental, national security, civil rights, and business leaders focused on making America independent from foreign energy. The Apollo Alliance represents more than 17 million people across the country and has been endorsed by the AFL-CIO and 22 international labor unions. In addition, Ringo serves as an official advisor to numerous environmental organizations, and sits on the board of Al Gore's Climate Advisory Panel, the National Parks and Conservation Association, and Newsweek Magazine Advisory Panel on Climate Change to name a few. Apart from those duties, Ringo is an author, an associate research scholar at Yale Univ., and lecturer, previously teaching Environmental Justice at the Univ. of California, Santa Barbara.
