Dear Great Lakes constituents and friends:

It is our pleasure to invite you to the 2009 Annual Meeting of the Great
Lakes Commission, to be held in Erie, Pa., Sept. 29-30. This is a time of
many important changes and exciting opportunities for the Great Lakes
region. Our annual meeting provides a timely opportunity for the region's
policymakers and opinion leaders to review and establish priorities for the
Commission. Register online now at www.glc.org/meeting!

Day one of the meeting will focus on the $475 million Great Lakes
Restoration Initiative (GLRI), including a presentation by Cameron Davis,
senior advisor to U.S. EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson and federal officials.
State recommendations on implementation plans for the GLRI will be reviewed
and finalized. A panel of national experts on water conservation and the
energy and water nexus will highlight day two, along with presentations and
discussion on ballast water treatment and control, the future of the Great
Lakes Water Quality Agreement and the future of maritime transportation.

The Great Lakes Commission Annual Meeting will start with a buffet lunch at
11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29, and conclude at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 30.
Meeting events will be held at the Bayfront Convention Center (1 Sassafras

Tom Ridge Environmental Center, which will include a special presentation on
the revival of Erie Harbor followed by an IMAX movie.
