Alliance for the Great Lakes For Immediate Release Monday, Aug. 31, 2009 Contact: Joel Brammeier 773-590-6494 (cell) Great Lakes Audio Campaign Puts Solutions in Hand The Alliance for the Great Lakes is taking to the airwaves to raise awareness about the importance of the Great Lakes, the threats they face and how we all can help. The first wave of the Alliances new This is My Water campaign launches today on radio stations throughout the Great Lakes region. The radio spots direct listeners to a new online microsite that shows where to find information about water quality, water conservation, beach health and invasive species. Visitors to the site can learn ways to help improve the lakes in their personal lives, with business or government, and with the Alliance. People need to know about the many ways they can take action to make the Great Lakes cleaner and healthier, said Joel Brammeier, Alliance acting president and CEO. Everyone has a role to play. Educating people about the lakes is a key aim of the campaign. Some folks dont realize their tap water comes from the Great Lakes," said Alliance Marketing Manager Judy Freed, reporting on a surprising finding from focus group research. The campaign was developed by Colman Brohan Davis, a Chicago-based marketing agency co-founded and headed by Alliance board member Lori Colman. CBD donated its services for the project, as did veteran voiceover artist Franette Liebow.
