Hello, Recently published in Michigan Today magazine is an electronic slide show, video and article about the changes in the Great Lakes ecosystem. Writer Jim Erickson interviewed Dave Jude, UM fishery biologist and researcher at the School of Natural Resources and Environment. Jude has observed the impact that various invasive species have had upon the Great Lakes ecosystem. Erickson joined Jude aboard the R/V Laurentian and noted the rapid changes in the ecosystem due to the invasion of zebra and quagga mussels. Previously, Jude received support from Sea Grant to investigate the invasive round goby. Michigan Sea Grant provided Erickson with photos and background information for this multi-media piece. Also, below are links to more information about aquatic invasive species. ---- ---- Michigan Today: Amazing change in Great Lakes July 15, 2009 See: http://michigantoday.umich.edu/2009/07/story.php?id=7510&tr=y&auid=5077806 by Jim Erickson 734.647.1842, ericksn at umich.edu ---- ---- For more information about aquatic invasive species, see Michigan Sea Grant: -- Aquatic Invasive Species website: http://www.miseagrant.umich.edu/ais -- Photos: http://www.miseagrant.umich.edu/photos/ais/index.html -- Articles: http://www.miseagrant.umich.edu/upwellings Best, Elizabeth _______________________________________________________________ Elizabeth LaPorte Michigan Sea Grant | www.miseagrant.umich.edu Director of Communication and Education Services (734) 647-0767 | Email: elzblap at umich.edu Address: 440 Church St., ST Dana Bldg.-1041 Ann Arbor, MI 48109-1041 _______________________________________________________________ -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
