In the compromise of Nestle agreed to limit pumping to 218 gallons per minute instead of the 400 gallons they wanted. With little support, even from other environmental organizations, and funding that would not compete with a huge corporation, this small non-profit was able to help protect Lake Michigan water. Gary Wilson celebrates their success and shares his insights on what we can learn from this episode. <http://cts.vresp.com/c/?BiodiversityProject/e2ff306af3/fd5ba02283/5de86dc9a 3> - Respond to Gary's Editorial <http://cts.vresp.com/c/?BiodiversityProject/e2ff306af3/fd5ba02283/99a8bbdbf 8> - "But this day belongs not to them, or Michigan's elected officials who quibbled and flip-flopped to make it easy for Nestle, but to the valiant citizens of Mecosta, Michigan. They had the courage of their convictions and did more to preserve Michigan's water resources than we may ever know." <http://cts.vresp.com/c/?BiodiversityProject/e2ff306af3/fd5ba02283/00ebc93b5 9> Do you have an eye for photography and a love of the Lakes? <http://cts.vresp.com/c/?BiodiversityProject/e2ff306af3/fd5ba02283/e8d2cd17c 7> Great Lakes Forever, another program of Biodiversity Project, and Budweiser have been partners since 2005 to produce the annual Great Lakes Forever photo contest to raise awareness of the Great Lakes and engage people in their protection.
