Today on The Environment Report... Farmers have until the end of this week to apply for a program that would pay them to let in more flood water. Chuck Quirmbach reports in many areas, farmers would stop growing crops and instead plant water-absorbing trees or grasses. And... twenty years ago this week, an oil tanker ran aground in Alaska's Prince William Sound. The Exxon Valdez spilled about 11 million gallons of crude oil. It's considered to be perhaps the biggest ecological disaster in U.S. history. Ann Dornfeld has a report on how oil spill prevention and preparedness have changed in the two decades since Valdez ran aground.
