The Corps of Engineers proposed budget for Lakes dredging in FY10 slashes $32 million from last year's Congressionally-approved total, for a decrease of 25%. Great Lakes Maritime Task Force has issued the attached release criticizing the decision and calling on Great Lakes legislators to increase funding and require the Harbor Maintenance Trust Fund to spend what it takes in each year rather than amass a surplus that is used to paper balance the budget.
