September 20, 2009

As Brookings Metropolitan Policy program, and our many partners in the
Great Lakes region focus on effective response to the auto industry
crisis-- please note an upcoming Automotive Communities and Workforce
Adjustment Conference -- hosted by the Chicago and Cleveland Federal
Reserve Banks, the Brookings Institution Metropolitan Policy Program,
and the W.E. UpJohn Institute.

The event is Thursday and Friday October 8-9, 2009 at the Detroit
Branch of the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank. For more information and
to register, please see:

http://www.chicagofed.org/news_and_conferences/conferences_and_events/2009_auto_workforce.cfm

This meeting is designed to help bring independent, research-based
perspective, program and policy ideas forward in the context of the
urgent work of federal, state, and local policymakers to aid in the
economic adaptation of auto-impacted communities -- with a focus at
this first forum on the workers themselves.

We hope that you will participate and encourage your networks to
participate in the conference as well.

Sincerely,
