Quality Management Training Modules have been developed to foster
awareness of EPA’s quality system and train staff on implementation of
quality for EPA projects. Training will be available "live" to on-line
participants April 14 and 15, 2010

Target Audience
The modules will serve to train EPA staff within OW and GLNPO and their
partners in EPA Regions, states, and other federal agencies, as well as
EPA contractors and grantees, and non-governmental organizations.   The
training modules will assist individuals with direct quality management
responsibilities as well as individuals responsible for conducting
projects and ensuring quality is incorporated into those projects.

Registration
On-line participants will register for each session individually with
the links below. The training will include discussion and application of
key concepts for real world examples.  A certificate of completion will
be awarded to each attendee who completes each .

EPA Quality System Overview
This two-hour workshop will focus on quality system requirements for EPA
staff and their collaborators implementing programs such as the Great
Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI).  The workshop will review
characteristics, benefits, authorities and requirements of the EPA
Quality System and how to assess the stage of a quality system.
Responsibilities, approaches and tools (quality documentation) for
implementing quality systems will be discussed.

Data Quality Act/Information Quality Guidelines
This two-hour workshop will provide background information and
descriptions of Information Quality Guidelines (IQGs), detail what
information is subject to IQGs, and the relationship of the Data Quality
Act and IQGs.  Assessment factors for evaluating the quality of
scientific and technical information will be reviewed, including peer
review.  Pre-dissemination review and correction processed will be
explained and examples provided.

Systematic Planning and Quality Documentation for Projects using
Existing Data
This two-hour workshop will focus on the importance of systematic
planning, assessment, and corrective action for projects using existing
data.  The workshop will review the steps of developing clear project
objectives, a plan to meet those objectives and proper documentation of
these efforts within project quality documentation.  An overview of EPA
quality requirements for projects using existing data will be discussed
and quality documentation checklists and templates specific to projects
utilizing secondary data will be provided and reviewed.

Quality Assistance Training for Project Officers
This two-hour workshop will provide a general overview of quality
including quality concepts, principles, and resources necessary to
implement projects designed to collect and assess environmental data.
Responsibilities, approaches and tools (quality documentation) for
implementing quality on the project level will be discussed as well as
the challenges Project Officers often face while implementing quality.
Quality requirements specific to contracts, grants, and Interagency
Agreements will be reviewed.
