Dear Environmental Educator:

We would like to invite you to submit a presentation proposal to the
Michigan Alliance for Environmental and Outdoor Education (MAEOE) Conference
this fall, October 8-10, 2010, at the University of Michigan Biological
Station near Pellston, just 20 miles south of the Mackinac Bridge. We are
very excited about the opportunities this venue has to offer-plenty of room
and a variety of settings-for presentations and field trips. This year's
conference theme is "Science & Stewardship."

MAEOE is seeking presenters, field trip leaders, and Share-A-Thon
participants for the 2010 conference.

See attached presenter proposal form. Presentation proposals are due June
15. We have four strands identified, but all topics are invited for
consideration:

* Environmental and global change monitoring

* School-community partnerships to address local stewardship needs

* Integrating environmental education into all disciplines

* Outdoor teaching skills & techniques

There are several formats and time lengths to choose from for your
presentation:

· Friday, October 8: 4-hour and all-day educator workshops and field
trips from 8-noon, 1-5 pm, or both.

· Saturday, October 9: 45-minute and 90-minute presentations, and
3-hour field trips, plus 15-minute "mini-lessons" or "Make & Take"
activities from noon-2pm at the Share-A-Thon where educators demonstrate fun
activities and creative teaching practices. Participants receive a stamp for
each session they attend and enter their stamped card into a raffle.
Presenters are encouraged to provide handouts for participants.

· Sunday, October 10: 45-minute presentations from 8:30-11:30am.

Conference registration is complimentary for the primary presenter.
Presenters are responsible for their own meals, lodging, and travel. The
University of Michigan Biological Station has cabins and dorm rooms
available for $75 per night, which includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
MAEOE policy allows workshop presenters to charge a fee to defray the cost
of materials and travel. Please let us know if you will charge a fee.

To learn more about the Share-A-Thon, please contact Maura Jung
(maljwolf at yahoo.com) or Barbara Pepper (Bpepper01 at comcast.net ). If you
would like to be a vendor (there is space for twelve), please contact Mike
Mansour (mmansour001 at comcast.net ). For information about the conference,
contact the 2010 conference chair, Joan Chadde at 906-487-3341 or
jchadde at mtu.edu. Updated conference information will be posted at:

Send your presenter proposal form(s) to Jaime Beranek
jaime.beranek at mi.nacdnet.net by June 15, 2010. Earlier proposal submission
is very much encouraged. Presenters will be notified by July 1st as to
whether their presentation proposal has been accepted.
