Dear Friends of the Great Lakes:

It is our pleasure to invite you to the 2010 Annual Meeting of the Great
Lakes Commission, to be held in Toronto, Ontario, Oct. 7-8. We are pleased
to offer this opportunity for Great Lakes colleagues to convene in one of
the most economically vibrant, green and multicultural cities in the world!

Among the topics slated for discussion are hazardous spill response, climate
change and adaptation, the role of water resources in the new economy, and
offshore wind development. Attendees will also receive updates on the Great
Lakes Restoration Initiative, renegotiation of the Great Lakes Water Quality
Agreement, and the proposed ecological separation of the Mississippi and
Great Lakes watersheds to thwart the spread of Asian carp.

The Great Lakes Commission Annual Meeting will begin at 12:30 p.m. on
Thursday, Oct. 7, and conclude at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8. This
schedule was designed to accommodate those who might enjoy planning a
weekend in Toronto following the meeting. Meeting events will be held at The
Sutton Place Hotel (955 Bay Street; Toronto, ON M5S2A2). A dinner and
reception is planned for the evening of Oct. 7 at the CN Tower.

ACTION NEEDED by Sept. 3: Register for the meeting at www.glc.org/meeting. A
block of rooms has been reserved at The Sutton Place Hotel at the reduced
rate of $180 per night; please reference the Great Lakes Commission when
making your reservation. Contact the hotel directly at 416-924-9221 to
reserve your room by Sept. 3 to get the reduced rate. Space is limited so
early reservations are encouraged!
