New website on Detroit River soft shoreline restoration projects

The State of the Strait Conference partners have developed a new web site
that profiles 38 case studies of soft shoreline engineering along the
Detroit River and western Lake Erie. The site is located at
<http://www.stateofthestrait.org/> http://www.stateofthestrait.org, under
"Shoreline Engineering."

The goal of the web site is to provide examples and guidance to further the
practice of soft shoreline engineering. The site includes manuals and
information on soft shoreline restoration practices, lessons learned, and an
interactive map which provides a summary of all of the soft shoreline
projects. The project summaries include photos of the site, project goals
and objectives, project description, cost, partners, and assessment of
ecological effectiveness. The comprehensive information on soft shoreline
practices detailed on the web site provide valuable insight into the
on-going restoration efforts of the many organizations and partners involved
in habitat restoration along the Detroit River and western Lake Erie.
