Wisconsin Sea Grant Assistant Director Jim Hurley is an accredited observer at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change meeting in Cancun. The meeting runs until Friday. There are 178 participating governments at the meeting, along with representatives from 1,297 NGOs and 83 intergovernmental organizations (the International Energy Agency and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, for example) that are continuing negotiations on binding climate change resolutions.

Jim has appreciated the chance to meet with others to gain a global perspective, as well as forge potential new partnerships on adaptation strategies on climate change. He is also blogging from the meetings, http://coastalclimatewiki.org/
