Michigan Avenue Lansing, Michigan <http://www.glc.org/spac/workshop-jan11.html> http://www.glc.org/spac/workshop-jan11.html Sponsored by the Statewide Public Advisory Council for Michigan's Great Lakes Areas of Concern Program Workshop Overview The workshop will bring together leaders from Michigan's 14 Great Lakes Areas of Concern, agency staff, consultants, community leaders and other interested parties to prepare for year two of the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI). The program will identify restoration priorities for Michigan's Areas of Concern; review upcoming funding opportunities under the GLRI; and advance partnerships and other arrangements to prepare restoration projects for Michigan's Areas of Concern. Staff from federal agencies will discuss upcoming funding opportunities under the GLRI and will be available to answer questions. The workshop will also review the status of the Great Lakes Legacy Act and options for generating non-federal cost share for contaminated sediment cleanup projects. A networking period will follow the formal presentations during which participants can meet with Area of Concern leaders, agency staff, consultants and other partners to discuss project ideas and consider the best approach for developing funding proposals. Keynote Speaker Cameron Davis, Senior Advisor to the U.S. EPA Administrator for the Great Lakes, will discuss progress under the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative and challenges for moving forward over the coming year.
