Submitted by Carl Wodrich <cwodrich at dnr.in.gov> --- https://www.ser.org/pdf/2010CallforAbstracts_MWGL.pdf We invite all interested parties to submit an abstract for an oral presentation or poster to be presented at the second Annual Chapter Meeting of the Midwest-Great Lakes Chapter of the Society for Ecological Restoration International (SER). The meeting is scheduled for April 9 and 10, 2010 and will be held at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum in Madison, Wisconsin. The Midwest-Great Lakes Chapter is a regional SER chapter that serves a six-state region of Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Our mission is to promote the science and practice of ecological restoration to assist with the recovery and management of degraded ecosystems throughout the Midwestern and Great Lakes region of the United States. Our theme for this meeting is an exploration of how the past, the present, and the future influence ecological restoration in the midwestern United States. Restoration projects are implemented as a result of historic degadation, current environmental problems, emerging environmental threats, or a combination of all. The success of ecological restoration projects are determined by the current and past ecological conditions, management regimes, and socioeconomic environment. Given that the meeting site is considered to be the birthplace of ecological restoration we want to take the opportunity to reflect on the past, consider the present, and look towards the future of ecological restoration in the region. We welcome abstracts that are directly related to the meeting theme and abstracts involving any ecological restoration topic from all individuals, institutions, and disciplines involved in ecological restoration. Oral presentations will be scheduled in 15 minute segments. More details related to audiovisual formats for oral presentations and space requirements for poster presentations will be provided at a later date. The deadline for submission of abstracts for oral and poster presentations is February 19, 2010. Abstracts will be reviewed and authors will be notified of acceptance status by March 5, 2010. Abstracts will be limited to 250 words. Abstracts need to be submitted via email to the following email address (mwgl.ser at gmail.com) with the author information and abstract attached as a Microsoft Word file (Microsoft Word 2003 or earlier files only - *.doc) or Rich Text Format (*.rtf). We will not accept Microsoft Word 2007 (*.docx) documents. The subject line of your email should read "MWGL SER Annual Meeting Abstract". Alternatively, if email submission is not an option for you then you may FAX your abstract to Katherine Martin at 330-263-3658 or mail to Katherine Martin, School of Environment and Natural Resources, The Ohio State University, 1680 Madison Avenue, Wooster, Ohio 44691.
