GLIN==> Report available

Earlier this year, a contractor interviewed a broad set of Great Lakes stakeholders on behalf of the Great Lakes Protection Fund. The interviews were conducted to assess the impact of the Fund’s grant making, identify factors that helped efforts succeed, and identify ways that the Fund can further its mission. A report that summarizes the findings of those interviews is now available at: http://www.glpf.org/about/newsitem.html?News=32

One of the things we heard in these interviews is that we can be clearer about our openness to new project ideas.

The Fund welcomes project ideas (preproposals) at any time and reviews them on a rolling basis. There is no need to wait for one of our periodic requests for preproposals. Those requests often build on the ideas that first arrived as unsolicited preproposals.

We encourage project ideas that target an important ecological objective, test a new action to get there, and are created and undertaken by collaborative teams. Funding guidelines, traits of a successful project, FAQs, and other project design resources are available here: http://www.glpf.org/application/index.html

Preproposals received by July 28, 2010 will be acted on by mid-August. Successful full proposals developed as a result can see funding as soon as December of this year.

Expect to hear more from us in the coming months. If you wish to help us better accomplish our mission of identifying, demonstrating and promoting regional action to protect and restore the health of the Great Lakes basin ecosystem, please join the conversation on LinkedIn. We’ve created a group for past and current project participants, advisors, and interested others to share ideas. Join us at: http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=2885135
