INTERACTIVE RESTORATION PROJECT WORKSHOPS TO BE
OFFERED AT 2010 GREAT LAKES RESTORATION CONFERENCE
Sixth Annual Great Lakes Restoration Conference – Buffalo, NY September 22-24
Hosted by the Healing Our Waters®-Great Lakes Coalition
http://conference.healthylakes.org

With funding from the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) flowing into the region, the HOW Coalition has launched an Implementation Program to help local groups engage in the GLRI at the restoration project level.

As part of this new work, the HOW Coalition’s Great Lakes Restoration Conference will include a two day Implementation Track focusing on:

Day 1: Securing Great Lakes Restoration Initiative Funds for your Restoration Project
· HOW Implementation Program Opportunities
· Unraveling GLRI Restoration Funding - Where does your Application Fit?
· A Citizen's Guide to Securing GLRI Funds - The Nuts and Bolts of Federal Grant Proposals
· Building Effective Partnerships to Secure GLRI Funding
· Securing Matching Funds for your Restoration Grant Proposal

Day 2: Tips from in the Trenches: Administering your Federal Grant under the GLRI
· Top Tips for Administering your Federal Grant
· Strengthening Collaborative Partnerships for your Project
· Building Climate Readiness into your Project
· How to Communicate Restoration Success Stories to Ensure Future Opportunities

These workshops are designed specifically for participants actively involved in the implementation of restoration projects across the region. These interactive sessions will offer a wide range of tools and are a unique opportunity for groups to build their institutional knowledge about successfully applying for and administering federal restoration grants in the Great Lakes region.

The Conference will also feature the opportunity to mix and mingle at our new Poster Showcase Happy Hour (flyer attached). During this happy hour, implementation groups will have access to professionals in the restoration field who are successfully completing and implementing projects. This event will take place on September 23rd, from 5:30-6:30pm. For more information, visit conference.healthylakes.org.

The Implementation Track and the Poster Showcase Happy Hour are great opportunities to highlight your group’s restoration resources and expertise, build institutional knowledge, and to network and interact with many individuals and organizations also engaged in restoration project activities.

To help ensure your attendance in Buffalo, the Coalition does offer a limited amount of travel scholarships. For more information, visit http://conference.healthylakes.org.
