Grants and Outreach Specialist Primary Job Responsibilities: Direct the small grants program that provides funding to grassroots groups throughout the Great Lakes basin. Coordinate and manage electronic networking and communications. The Grants and Outreach Specialist manages the website www.frehswaterfuturet.org. Grants Program (approximately 50% of the position): * Provide overall management of the grants program. * Develop annual requests for proposals. * Coordinate information on grants (notifying of receipt, obtaining additional information from applicants, communication to grant reviewers, letters of denial, letters of acceptance, etc.). * Maintain communications with grantees including tracking project progress and ensuring appropriate use of grant monies. * Provide assistance to grantees for completion of contract requirement and grant reports. * Participate in meetings basin wide to promote the grants program and provide assistance to grantees. * Promote the small grants program by regularly updating the website. * Organize the annual grassroots symposium including finding location, working with partners to set the agenda, finding speakers, coordinating details for the facility and travel arrangements. Outreach and Electronic Networking (approximately 30% of the position): ● Collect and edit stories for a quarterly newsletter for the network. ● Collect and edit stories for an annual report (e.g., Success Stories). ● Electronic networking includes writing, editing, gathering artwork, and maintaining website, maintaining postings on Facebook and Twitter, and sending electronic alerts. ● Coordinate the placement of publications on the website. Program Management (approximately 20% of the position): * Plan meetings, including working with committees on logistical details and local facilities managers. * Assist with general program development. * Maintain databases. * Maintain filing systems. * General copying, typing, ordering. * Other essential administration duties as assigned. For information about Freshwater Future visit www.freshwaterfuture.org Qualifications: The Grants and Outreach Specialist will have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree preferably with a water resource, policy, nonprofit or advocacy background, excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent computer skills in MS programs including databases, spreadsheets, and word processing; and experience with project management.
