The World Wetland <http://www.worldwetnet.org/> Network (WWN) has recently
announced an International Wetland Awards program, the Wetland Globes, to
recognize the best and worst cases of management of
internationally-important wetlands from the perspective of NGOs. Cast your
vote today to recognize a wetland of international importance that is
important to you!

WWN is an international group of wetland non-profits (or NGOs) founded to
help wetland NGO's engage more fully in international wetland conservation
efforts, to recognize and support their role, and to raise awareness of
international wetland threats. WWN is made up of grassroots wetland
organizations and has no allegiance to any countries or international
quasi-governmental bodies. The Awards Program provide the means to both
share and recognize best practices, as well as highlight wetlands and
related issues of concern. Awards will be presented to wetlands in five
regions of the globe for each of the three awards listed below based on
votes received at the WWN website (www.WorldWetNet.org
<http://www.worldwetnet.org/> ) by individuals representing wetland-related
NGOs from around the world.

Award categories:

Blue Globe: Best practice in wetland management.

Green Globe: Best wetland restoration projects

Grey Globe: Wetlands under threat or being mismanaged (e.g., degradation of
wetland due to development; loss of wetland due to pollution (e.g. oil
spills, water pollution, etc.); degradation due to agriculture/abstraction;
active exclusion of local communities from wetland protection.)

Click here <http://www.worldwetnet.org/awards/how-to-vote/> for information
on how to cast your vote for wetlands in this awards program. (Note that,
in order to prevent fraudulent votes, you will be asked to list a "referee"
who knows your work before your registration will be processed. This can be
a regional focal point (see the list of regional contacts), a national NGO
or official government body that knows your work. This verification process
can take 1-2 days.)

For more information on WWN or the Wetland Globe Awards program see the
attached press release and summary, and visit www.WorldWetNet.org.
