Announcing a half-day workshop on Large Aquatic Ecosystems at the Exchange Network National Meeting. The Exchange Network National Meeting will take place in Chicago on April 20-22, 2010. As part of this meeting, a half-day workshop on Large Aquatic Ecosystems will be held involving experts from programs throughout the country. This workshop will actively explore specific opportunities for the National Environmental Information Exchange Network (aka Exchange Network) to provide tools and approaches that can help ecosystem stewards manage and gain access to the right information when it's needed. The workshop will also be an opportunity for the large aquatic ecosystem community to report from the trenches on exactly what challenges they are facing and what the EN needs to do to be relevant. Management and protection of large aquatic ecosystems requires extensive information about the environment. Accessing, aggregating, and managing the right information from often disparate data sources poses a significant challenge for ecosystem managers. A wide variety of Exchange Network resources, such as schemas, nodes, data standards and other tools, are offered at no charge to users from the website - http://www.exchangenetwork.net.
