Spend some time on the water with more than 20 different theme cruises to choose from.

What: Take a 2-4 hour cruise and learn about eagles, islands, rum-runners, lighthouses, ROVs, Bob-Lo Island, fish, shipwrecks and more, all waiting to be discovered in Southeast Michigan. Those are just a few of the topics that will be explored during the 2010 Summer Discovery Cruise season. Several new cruises have been added this year, like Wind, Waves & Weather; Detroit River Revival; and Handy Billy (check our website to learn what a Handy Billy is!).

Who: Cruises are open to the public (ages 6 and up), with registration available for individuals and groups.

How much: Cost is $15 for adults and $10 for children under 18. Longer cruises, like the Big River Meander (4 hours) are an additional $5.

When: The voyages leave from Lake Erie Metropark June 19 through July 11, and from Metro Beach Metropark July 28 through August 15, with sail times of 10am, 2pm and 6pm most days.

For more information: Check out http://www.discoverycruises.org for descriptions of all the options, to see the complete Summer Discovery Cruise schedule and to register. Still have questions? Call (734) 379-5020 x6836 for information on Lake Erie Metropark cruises, or (586) 463-4332 for information on Metro Beach Metropark cruises.

Summer Discovery Cruises are sponsored by Michigan Sea Grant Extension and the Huron-Clinton Metroparks, and are in cooperation with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Environment, DTE Energy, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and NOAA's National Weather Service.
