Sponsored by the OSU Climate Change Outreach Team

The OSU Climate Change Outreach Team is a partnership among multiple departments within The Ohio State University to help localize the climate change issue by bringing research and resources to Ohioans and Great Lakes residents. Participating OSU departments include OSU Extension; Ohio Sea Grant; School of Environment and Natural Resources; Department of Agricultural, Environmental, and Development Economics; OSU Extension Watershed Program; Byrd Polar Research Center; Department of Geology; Carbon, Water, and Climate Program; and the Department of Geography.

This webinar will discuss the following questions:

*	What are potential changes to water quality from a changing climate?
*	What land use changes may occur as a result of our reactions to climate change?
*	How do we make decisions today, or reasonably react to these decisions, when their effects won’t be felt for decades?
*	How do we plan when our forecasts are not certain?
*	What do citizens believe about water quality?
*	What are the perceived risks to citizens related to water quality and stewardship?

The webinar is free, but you must pre-register by Monday, December 6, 2010. To register, click here <http://osu.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=54e5ae3c10de83ec37a9b8e26&id=3a5b659327&e=7643e18b96> . Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email with log-in information. Contact Jill Jentes Banicki <mailto:jentes.1 at osu.edu> with any questions.

SPEAKERS

Anthony D. Kendall, PhD is a Visiting Research Associate within the Department of Geological Sciences at Michigan State University. He studies the impacts of land use, land management, and climate change on water resources. His work focuses on field- and computationally-based research aimed toward a greater predictive capacity for simulating both historical and future changes to water quality and quantity in freshwater systems. Of particular interest are the impacts of agricultural practices on water resources, and the role that groundwater plays in both as a transporter of contaminants as well as a vital source of water for both human and ecosystem uses.

Robyn S. Wilson, PhD is the Assistant Professor of Risk Analysis and Decision Science in the School of Environment and Natural Resources at The Ohio State University. She studies the individual decision making process under risk and uncertainty, more specifically the factors that influence individual perceptions of risk and related behaviors. She is also interested in the development of communication efforts and decision support tools that assist individuals in making more informed choices. She has been pursuing these interests across multiple risk management contexts (environment, agriculture, public health) and types of decision makers (laypeople, experts), and is currently conducting research on individual citizen land use and land management decisions as they relate to stream health and water quality.
