The Superior Watershed Partnership Offers Mini-Grants for Beach Clean-ups on Lake Superior, Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.

Starting on Earth Day (April 22) and going through the end of June, the Superior Watershed Partnership will be offering mini-grants for beach, river and green space clean-ups! Once the snow melts, garbage of all kinds shows up along our beaches, rivers, trails, and parks. The SWP will assist community organizations, youth groups, Earth Keeper churches, trail groups and more to clean up their favorite public recreation spots. Specifically the SWP will reimburse these groups for things such as gloves, trash bags, disposal and other related expenses.

“This is an excellent opportunity for groups to get outside and do something good for the community and the Great Lakes environment” exclaimed Natasha Koss, Program Manager at the SWP. “It’s also a time to get out and enjoy some of our premier recreation spots like our rivers, trails, beaches and public open spaces.” Koss is encouraging groups to make it an outing with a picnic and games for the whole family.
