Coastal Erosion and Bluff Failures

Most of Lake Michigan’s bluffs are “marginally stable at best,”
according to UW Sea Grant Coastal Engineer Gene Clark, and climate
change may increase the risks of severe erosion.

Frogs on the Firing Line

Researcher William Karasov and graduate student Tawnya Cary investigate
the effects of PBDEs (compounds used as flame retardants) on frogs.
Their work is part of a growing discipline called immunoecology, which
studies the way the immune system works to protect a species in its
natural environment.
