Dear Great Lakes Professional:
You are cordially invited to join us from September 12-14, 2011 in Ann Arbor, Michigan for the Coastal Habitat Conservation in a Changing Climate: Strategies and Tools in the Great Lakes Region Workshop. The workshop starts on Monday at noon and ends on Wednesday around noon EST.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and its partners are hosting a series of regionally focused coastal habitat workshops to address this question:
How do we integrate climate change impacts, both measured and expected, into coastal habitat conservation and restoration activities?
Last year this question was addressed in the Mid-Atlantic Region. This year the focus is the freshwater coastal habitat of the Great Lakes.
This workshop will include both U.S. and Canadian federal and non-federal participants from Great Lakes states and tribes throughout MI, WI, MN, IN, IL, OH, PA, and NY.
Topics of the agenda include, but are not limited to, up-to-date climate change impact information on topic areas such as lake levels and precipitation with an examination of dealing with uncertainty, case studies of example restoration and conservation projects along with restoration site visits and hands-on demonstrations of applicable tools, plus an opportunity for informational dialogue and input on federal and regional climate services.
For additional information and draft agenda please visit:
