Imagery from NASA's Aqua Satellite platform Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) instrument for August 27, 2011 shows.... http://lance-modis.eosdis.nasa.gov/imagery/realtime/2011239/crefl2_143.A2011239185000-2011239185500.250m.jpg [see the lower right quadrant of the large image at magnification] - apparent phytoplankton in near shore areas throughout most of Saginaw Bay. - phytoplankton throughout Lake St. Clair, but with heavy indications of outbreak along the south shore of Lake St. Clair in Ontario from the mouth of the Thames River and west. - In western Lake Erie, apparent growth of phytoplankton covers most of the area from the western Lake Erie Michigan shoreline to a line from Pt. Pelee to Sandusky Bay. Note also the apparent 'flow-through' from Lake St. Clair of phytoplankton on the Canadian side of the Detroit River into Lake Erie...
