GLIN==> Planning for Climate Impacts Workshops

The Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve along with the Ohio Coastal Training Program, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and numerous local and regional partners are collaborating to host a series of workshops to build climate planning capacity in the Great Lakes region. The next workshop in this series will be held in Green Bay, Wisconsin at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay on September 13, 2011. The Green Bay opportunity will be followed by a workshop in Duluth, Minnesota at the EPA Mid-continent Ecology Division Laboratory on September 22, 2011. The content for the workshops has been developed based upon extensive input from local planning teams to ensure that they addresses local and regional issues and needs.

These are one day workshops for planners and other professionals addressing land use, public health, stormwater, emergency preparedness, and natural resource management issues.  They will provide an overview of the latest climate science, an interactive participant discussion about climate issues, information about climate planning processes and strategies, and examples of available planning tools and resources. The workshops will also include an interactive session that offers an introduction to assessing climate vulnerability for your community.
