Ohio Sea Grant Extension Welcomes Clean Marinas Coordinator Sarah Orlando December 5, 2011 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SANDUSKY, OH- Ohio Sea Grant Extension is pleased to announce the addition of Sarah Orlando as its new Clean Marinas Coordinator. Starting today, she will oversee the state's Clean Marinas program, which encourages marina owners to use innovative solutions to protect clean water and fresh air. Based at the Office of Coastal Management in Sandusky, Orlando will promote the Clean Marinas and Clean Boaters programs by encouraging marina and boat owners to use best management practices to preserve environmental resources. She will also coordinate the boat shrink wrap recycling program, and will work to educate the public about issues facing Lake Erie's Western Basin, such as sedimentation and phosphorus loading. "As she returns to Ohio, Sarah brings a passion for the Great Lakes, a unique set of marine and freshwater science skills, and an outgoing personality to the Ohio Sea Grant Extension program," says Frank Lichtkoppler, Ohio Sea Grant Extension Program Coordinator. "I look forward to working with Sarah on the Clean Marinas program." Orlando holds a bachelor's degree in biology from Wittenberg University and a master's of marketing research degree in marine resources management from Texas A&M. In 2009 she worked as an assistant lab manager at Ohio State University's Stone Laboratory and in 2008, she worked as biological field station assistant at the lab.
