ST LOUIS RIVER ALLIANCE NEWS RELEASE February 15, 2011 Contact: Julene Boe, (218) 733-9520 St. Louis River Environmental Stewardship Award Nominations Sought DULUTH, Minn. - The St. Louis River Alliance (SLRA) is seeking nominations for its 2011 Environmental Stewardship Awards. These annual awards recognize the people, communities and institutions that have provided outstanding service toward restoring, protecting and enhancing the St. Louis River and its watersheds. "Clean water and a healthy St. Louis River are essential components of our region's quality of life and economic vitality," said Julene Boe, director of the SLRA. "Many citizens of the region make contributions toward achieving this quality of life for everyone through their work, business decisions, community involvement and personal lifestyles." Stewardship efforts can be nominated that have occurred over the past few years within the watershed of the lower St. Louis, Nemadji or western end of Lake Superior. Categories include individuals; organizations; schools; local, state, tribal and federal agencies; business and industry; and the news media. Self-nominations are accepted.
