CLEVELAND-Shipments of coal on the Great Lakes totaled 750,000 tons in January, an increase of 22 percent compared to a year ago. The largest gain - nearly 60 percent - came in loadings from Superior, Wisconsin. Despite the positive comparison to a year ago, this January's shipments are nearly 40 percent below the month's 5-year average.
