GLIN==> NECIS publications: Call to Action on Invasive Species and Screening factsheet

The National Environmental Coalition on Invasive Species has released two
new documents pertinent to invasive species prevention and control.
 
The first document is "An Action Plan on Invasive Species, for President
Obama and the 112th Congress" which outlines the policy changes needed to
curb invasive species introduction and spread, with a focus on screening
intentional imports, preventing inadvertent introductions, and addressing
funding gaps:

The second document is a factsheet entitled "Congress Can Act Now to Prevent
the Costly Invasions of Non-Native Species and Diseases" highlighting new
screening procedures to close the loophole that allowed harmful invasive
species like Asian carp, Burmese pythons, and nutria into the U.S.:

Established in 2003, the National Environmental Coalition on Invasive
Species (NECIS) is a national partnership of 17 major environmental
organizations that provides a united expert and scientific voice on invasive
species policy. Its leaders include scientists, lawyers and advocates with
many years of experience on invasives policy. Great Lakes United is a
founding member of NECIS.
