Dear Friend of the Great Lakes:

It is our pleasure to invite you to the 2011 Semiannual Meeting of the Great
Lakes Commission and "Great Lakes Days in Washington," Feb. 28-Mar. 2. These
events provide a great opportunity for the region's policymakers, as well as
members of Congress and staff, to share priorities for the region. Promoting
our federal policy agenda is now more important than ever to maintain
support for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative. It's critical that we
take this time to ensure Congress and the Administration recognize that
continued investment in the Great Lakes will yield significant environmental
and economic benefits.

The Great Lakes Commission Semiannual Meeting will start at 1:00 p.m. on
Feb. 28 and conclude at noon on March 1. Meeting events will be held at the
Hamilton Crowne Plaza Hotel (14th and K Streets, NW). An evening reception
on Feb. 28 will be held at the hotel. A reception sponsored by the Healing
Our WatersR - Great Lakes Coalition and the Government of Canada will be
held at the Canadian Embassy on the evening of March 1.

Register now! Registration for the Semiannual Meeting and Great Lakes Day
events is available at www.glc.org/greatlakesday. Early registration is
encouraged and you will receive a reduced rate if you register before Feb.
1. A list of hotels with overnight room accommodations is also available on
the website. All of the listed hotels are within four blocks of the Hamilton
Crowne Plaza.

The Great Lakes Congressional Breakfast Reception will be held on March 2
from 8-9:30 a.m. (location TBA). The reception includes a continental
breakfast sponsored jointly by the Great Lakes Commission and
Northeast-Midwest Institute. Invited guests include members of the Great
Lakes Congressional Delegation, Great Lakes governors, mayors and tribes,
and congressional staff.
