Thursday, January 13, 2011
Lansing Center
333 E. Michigan Avenue
Lansing, Michigan

Sponsored by the Statewide Public Advisory Council for Michigan's Great
Lakes Areas of Concern Program

Workshop Overview
The workshop will bring together leaders from Michigan's 14 Great Lakes
Areas of Concern, agency staff, consultants, community leaders and other
interested parties to prepare for year two of the Great Lakes Restoration
Initiative (GLRI). The program will identify restoration priorities for
Michigan's Areas of Concern; review upcoming funding opportunities under the
GLRI; and advance partnerships and other arrangements to prepare restoration
projects for Michigan's Areas of Concern. Staff from federal agencies will
discuss upcoming funding opportunities under the GLRI and will be available
to answer questions. The workshop will also review the status of the Great
Lakes Legacy Act and options for generating non-federal cost share for
contaminated sediment cleanup projects. A networking period will follow the
formal presentations during which participants can meet with Area of Concern
leaders, agency staff, consultants and other partners to discuss project
ideas and consider the best approach for developing funding proposals.

Keynote Speaker
Cameron Davis, Senior Advisor to the U.S. EPA Administrator for the Great
Lakes, will discuss progress under the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative
and challenges for moving forward over the coming year.
