Dear Colleagues, The University of Rhode Island (URI) Coastal Resources
Center and the Rhode Island Sea Grant College Program, invite you to
attend an exciting and "real-life" based training opportunity to learn
firsthand about the innovative Coastal and Marine Spatial Planning
(CMSP) lessons, tools and techniques that Rhode Island is employing
through the Ocean Special Area Management Plan (
http://seagrant.gso.uri.edu/oceansamp/).

"Applying Coastal and Marine Spatial Planning as a Tool to Site Offshore
Renewable Energy and Other Future Uses: A Workshop to Learn Ocean
Planning Tools and Techniques,” will take place May 3 - 5, 2011 at URI.
This interactive workshop will allow participants to personalize content
for their own CMSP initiatives while meeting learning needs and gaining
valuable and constructive feedback from peers and key members of the
Ocean SAMP team -- with post-training mentoring available for
participants. The workshop reflects the most current standards for CMSP
policy, including the CMSP framework outlined in the “National Policy
for the Stewardship of the Ocean, Our Coasts, and the Great Lakes.”

You are encouraged to sign up early (
http://seagrant.gso.uri.edu/coast/msp_training.html) to ensure a space
at this cutting-edge CMSP training opportunity. Your questions are
welcome by contacting Jennifer McCann at (401) 874-6127 or
mccann at gso.uri.edu, or Amber Neville at (401) 874-6106 or
amber at crc.uri.edu.

We look forward to seeing you at this exciting training event!
