GLIN==> Michigan Coastal Management Program Announces 2012 CELCP Request for Proposals

The Michigan Coastal Management Program (MCMP) within the Office of the Great Lakes, Department of Natural Resources and Environment, is pleased to announce the release of a Request for Proposals (RFP) for coastal land acquisition projects (fee simple interest or conservation easement) that further the objectives of Michigan's Draft Coastal and Estuarine Land Conservation Program.



It is expected that federal funds will become available for the purpose of protecting important coastal and estuarine areas that have significant conservation, recreation, ecological, historical, or aesthetic values, or that are threatened by conversion from their natural or recreational state to other uses, giving priority to lands that can be effectively managed and protected and that have significant ecological value.  Project proposals will be scored and ranked by the MCMP and up to 3 projects will be submitted to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for participation in the national competition.  Any funding appropriated by Congress will be allocated subsequent to the national ranking.



Applications must be hand-delivered to the MCMP by 4:00 p.m., March 4, 2011, or postmarked no later than March 4, 2011.  Submittal of an electronic copy of the proposal is highly recommended and should be submitted to gonzalesa at michigan.gov by March 4, 2011.
